Accrington & District Through Time

A town within the borough of Hyndburn in Lancashire, Accrington is situated close to the River Hyndburn and is near to Blackburn and Burnley. Once a centre for cotton and textile industries, in recent years Accrington has been congratulated for its successful contribution to brick production. Home to the 'Accrington Pals', who were a local battalion of volunteers who were formed to fight during the First World War, the town is also known for its many retail outlets, bursting with customers. With rail links in and around the town to other areas within the UK, Accrington deserves its place on the map and the huge popularity it retains from residents and visitors alike.
