Introduction to Game Design

This book provides students in an introductory game design and game development course an overview of the many facets of game design. Successful games are created by people who fully understand the basic concepts including gameplay, game worlds, game characters, game stories, game levels, interfaces, graphics, audio, and programming issues. Though one person does not need to be skilled in all of these areas, they need to understand the basics to be an effective member of a successful game creation team. The book also introduces game creation using the popular software, Game Maker (with a trial version on the accompanying CD-ROM). Introduction to Game Design has the instructions to create a series of games for a variety of genres. The CD also contains artwork and music for the creation of the games along with the games at various stages of completion.
