Notes on a Nervous Planet

While basically everyone in the Italian book community is reading How To Stop Time by Matt Haig, I thought it would be a good idea to read some of his non-fiction first, so I picked up Notes On A Nervous Planet (which hasn't been translated yet, hence my review in English) and I read it in the span of twelve hours. Well, I have some thoughts, mostly positive ones, because I connected so much with his struggles with technology and information overload and generally how modern world impacts our daily lives: I underlined so many passages and I'll certainly come back to them in the future because they were so on point I couldn't believe I wasn't the one writing them! Unfortunately, I had some minor disagreements around the theme of technological progress and I thought some sentences came off as a bit cheesy and cliché, but they were in a significant minority as opposed to all the meaningful thoughts the author expressed. I tried reading Reasons To Stay Alive last year and couldn't get past the first few chapters because it was a bit too hard for me to read, while this book was a more lucid report, clearly written when he was in a much better headspace, on a different, less scary but equally important kind of issue, and I enjoyed it thoroughly . 4.5/5🌟
